Sorry, don't have time to search the forum.

Any idea whay this *may have caused CPU to go to 100% and hang everything.

Back-end quarantine is MS-SQL on same machine. Plenty of disk space, CPU, etc. Server is only spamfilter and DNS. Primary SQL taken offline 6 months ago.

Russ21,

Can you please post which version of SpamFilter you are using and what OS the server is running? The error is generated by the Windows when there is no buffer space available within the transport system (TCP in this case). This occurred while forwarding the email to your destination smtp server. SQL server should not be an issue.

Please also let us know roughly how much email traffic in msgs/day or msgs/hour SpamFilter receives. Does the problem occur sporadically or very often?

Upon further investigation it appears that BlackIce may have been the issue - blocking responses from the EXchange server. Seems one of the other techs ignored a notice of a change to the firewall and blackice ini files. It looks like the root of the BI issue may be NAV stepping on the files - stupid software thinks the presence of a LOG entry of a Code Red attack is an infection... There was an update performed that appears to need to be retold to exclude the BI folder.

However, for the record;

Windows Server 2k SP3 on both machines, latest hotfixes (kept current by HFNetChkPro.) Exchange 2k has SP3. Both machines over-built for previous 50 user environment.

Spamfilter 1.2.0.206 (registered)

Very little traffic - 12 users, whitelisted in the config. We reject all blacklist hits, quarantine PTR failures. No Regex in place. 100 emails/day come through, 300 rejects on average.

Firewall (smtp proxy) is in front of the server, BISP on all servers.

Thanks for the quick response - we got everything back up and running shortly after - I had to blaze out to meet a client and couldn't respond right away...

Again, thanks for the support and such a great product! My customers are amazed at how much SPAM is cut and the price is right.

Sorry, as for frequency - this is the first time it has errored at all.

FYI - we, ourselves, are having PTR issues with our new provider (cut last week)

Thanks again.
