I'd like to get your feedback on mailservers to consider.  Our current product seems to have stalled - there has been no new development for three years.

We are an ISP so we need a features like web mail, self management and a good API. We are on a Windows server platform. I did find this product  http://www.mailenable.com/default.asp, it seemed like a great value. I'm just starting to think about my options.

Your feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Dwight,

I run a 9 year old port of sendmail!  I re-wrote the GUI using MSSQL and have a 3rd party WebMail.  It runs great and is extremely robust.  Do not even think about it! ... We also run 2 IMail servers (not bad to manage and seems trouble free) and an Exchange Clone (Kerio) which we really like but have not used in any where near the traffic levels of our SendMail server.  You may want to look at Merak Mail Server.  We have several customers that have this and it seems trouble-free and has everything build in.

SmarterMail Enterprise! Good Api and does the core mail functions I need like send/receive smtp, pop2, and imap.

Some who use the spam filtering function like grelisting, spamassassin and clamwin anti-virus report their servers bogging down, but I'm a firm believer in having anti-spam on a separate box (ala SFE) and really only wanted core functionality and SM delivers.

Download a free single domain copy of SM Enterprise and play with it.

We use MailEnable Enterprise and it's been great. We have an SF box tagging all email as spam or ham and delivering it to the MailEnable server where we then process it futher. It has great features like running a script when emails hit certain post offices or mailboxes etc. The webmail is asp based so easily configurable and they have an API which works fine.
There is constant development and we've been using it for nearly five years now....well worth the money.
