Hi,
I am getting the following error in the log file: 07/06/06 07:17:20:187 -- (20676) Exception occurred during TSendMailThread.SendErrMsg: Read Timeout which is normally preceded by: 07/06/06 07:17:20:187 -- (20676) Error-email from jennifer@obravybr.com to user@somedomain.com was forwarded to some.ip.addre.ss I have identified that whenever we try to NDR and the smtp server performing the NDR (some.ip.addre.ss) isn't happy with the return email address there's a timeout. Is it possible to get friendlier message? What happens to the message that's trying to get out. Does SFI keep on retrying or is the email dropped? Thanks Amir |

Amir,
When SpamFilter attempts to forward "clean" emails to the destination SMTP server, and the dest. server is unavailable, SpamFilter will queue the emails and will retry to send them until the server is back online (the retry is "for ever" by default, but a time limit can be set in the SpamFilter.ini file). If the dest server is online, but rejects the emails with an error code, the behavior of SpamFilter will depend on the error code of the server. This can be modified from its default settings with the following entries in the SpamFilter.ini file: ;Determines if SpamFilter should hold in the queue emails that were rejected by the destination SMTP server with an error in the 4xy range QueueIfDestinationError400=true ;Determines if SpamFilter should hold in the queue emails that were rejected by the destination SMTP server with an error in the 5xy range QueueIfDestinationError500=false However if there are errors when forwarding NDR emails, SpamFilter will only try *once*. IF there is an error, the NDR will not be retried again. |

What about fixing the exception Roberto? I was running the latest version (579) and am back to 561 which does not give me that error.

kspare,
I wasn't aware that it was a problem. From the pos I thought that the error appeared when the destinatino SMTP server rejected the NDR, and the "Read Timeout" error was the error received by SpamFilter when it tried to deliver the NDR. If you have a different case/explanation, and you believe there's a problem, absolutely, we'll look into it. Do you have any more details of what is happening? |
